Michael made his comeback to professional racing in Mexico on December 1st at Ironman Cozumel. Weiss was victorious over a strong Pro Men's field which included Tyler Butterfield, Marino Vanhoenacker, Eneko Llanos, and Nils Frommhold.
Michael, out of water just 3 minutes behind the leaders, was able to gain control of the race by the second bike loop. His strength, skills, and tactics on the bike gave him a near 10 minute advantage going into T2 as well as the fastest bike split of the day. On the marathon Michi was able to maintain his lead despite the heat and strong winds and at 7:55:23 he powered down the finish chute with the Austrian flag waving proudly.
Michael will enjoy family holidays and a short recovery period before returning to training again for a race-filled 2014 season.
